From the creators of all good things in wakeboarding comes a new competition series for everyone any who knows they won’t be the next world champion but does just love to wakeboard. The WAKEGAME09 by Daniel & Mick Watkins brings together several elements of wakeboarding, wakesurfing and even waterskiing. The series of 5 events is aimed at the pure armature and is designed to help develop your skills behind the boat. A variety of locations from the Liquid Force lake in Brisbane to Stoney Park Port Macquarie will host the competitions. All participants of all levels are welcome and everyone in the family… even mum and dad are encouraged to get in and have a go.
Wake Games
These are a series of games played during a day to help you develop your skills in wakeboarding, skiing and wakesurfing. Although it’s a competition the main focus on the day is getting in and having a go. The event series incorporates a wakeboarding competition, slalom competition, a bit of wakesurfing and a 3-up last man standing figure 8 competition.
Wakeboarding Competition
Our wakeboard competition is simplified from that of our regular competition. There are two divisions and you may choose to enter either one, they are;
‘Tricks division’- this will be scored out of 10 on the amount of tricks you do and how well you do them, or
Fun Division’ - this will be scored out of 10 on purely how much fun you are having on the water, the level of tricks are not a consideration. There will be 3 Division; ‘Tricks Division under 15 years of age’, ‘Tricks over 15 years of age’, ‘Tricks with more than 2 flips’ and ‘Fun Division’. If you plan on doing more than 2 flips in your run you must enter the ‘Tricks with more than 2 flips division’ all fun Division riders will be together regardless of age.
Slalom Competition Slalom competition will be held at the first and fifth event only. All slalom competitors will attempt to ride around the slalom course on what ever device they choose, where it be a wakeboard, slalom ski, double ski’s or kneeboard. A handicap scoring system will allow competitors to compete against each other.
Wakesurfing
In a 15 second time allocation competitors must carve up the wave as aggressively as possible while surfing without holding onto the rope.
3-Up Last Man Standing figure 8 competition
3 riders will start behind the boat, as the boat drives in a figure 8 configuration each of the rider must try to knock down their competitor in a no rules format. Last rider standing wins. This game is staged to help you with you strength and balance.
